Welcome to Immanuel Lutheran Church
If you’ve been in the Washington, Missouri, area for some time, chances are you’ve heard of Immanuel Lutheran Church & School. We have a long history of offering faith, fellowship, and education; glorifying God; and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this community and beyond. We do this through both our church and school ministries, along with the dozens of outreach and community events we host each year — all aimed at spreading the love of Jesus and showing others His glory.
Immanuel Lutheran Church has an open invitation to anyone who wants to worship with us; we’d love to see you.

Weekly Service and Daily Devotionals
If you missed the service this week, or would like to watch it again, you are invited to watch it here.
This is a daily devotion in which Pastor Mark Bangert reflects on the hymns and readings in our weekly worship. This devotion is an awesome opportunity to connect with the community as we prepare for worship together each week.
Announcements, Church Calendar, and Our Newsletter
Each week, our Church Bulletin has information about special events, prayer requests, church and school news, and other important information. If you would like a copy of the Weekly Bulletin, stop by or contact the church. Our calendar of upcoming events can be viewed below.
Immanuel Lutheran Church & School also has a newsletter. To be added to the mailing list, please send a request by email.
At Immanuel Lutheran Church & School, there’s a ministry or program for everyone! Engage with your faith community at a higher level, connect with and comfort others, inspire the next generation or learn more through one (or more!) of the many opportunities listed below.
From the Board of Evangelism to Christian Care, Trustees, the Board of Christian Day School Education, Board of Stewardship, Board of Elders, or Board of Directors, if you want to serve Immanuel on a ministry board, we have many to offer.
Study God’s Word with your sisters in Christ and use your unique, God-given gifts and abilities to serve others. Some of the Women’s Ministry offerings include Bible Studies; Book Club; Christ, Coffee, and Conversation; God’s Gourmet (cooking and delivering meals); Lutheran World Relief Comforter Ministry (making comforters for those in need), and more. This ministry also hosts a Widows’ Luncheon and Women’s Retreat (no retreat in 2021 due to Covid).
Monthly meetings offer both fellowship and business opportunities. This club sponsors the annual Pork Sausage Dinner, raises money to sponsor the Sunday morning radio broadcast, supports the youth group, hosts a dart ball league, performs community service together, and more.
Comfort Dog Ministry
Immanuel Lutheran Church & School is incredibly blessed to have Sheba the Comfort Dog, an LLC K-9 Comfort Dog. She is a purebred, AKC-registered Golden Retriever who has passed the AKC Good Citizenship Test. She provides support and spreads a calming effect that allows her handlers (who are certified and receive ongoing training) to listen and connect with others. Since Sheba joined us in 2016, she has comforted people in our church and school, visited shut-in members, attended visitations and funerals, greeted the congregation, and more.
She also has served the community through visiting nursing homes and hospitals, police stations, veteran’s homes, and other area schools, attended community events and has been to numerous crisis response deployments in times of tragedy. Sheba has allowed us to share the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ with innumerable people.
Each comfort dog is assigned a Bible verse, which is part of their registered name. Sheba’s is:
“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake, I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.” Philippians 3:8
(Older Wiser Lutherans): This ministry offers fitness classes, lunches, outings, and other activities.
Music is a beautiful part of life, and this ministry celebrates it with choirs for children, adults, men, and women. A bell choir plays regularly during worship services.
Immanuel Lutheran Youth Crosstrainers helps youth grow in their faith development with Bible study, retreats, lock-ins, and other events.
Every June, Immanuel Lutheran Church & School hosts Vacation Bible School for more than 150 area children, spreading the word of God and teaching children about Jesus.
